Trusty summer bronzing

Hello beauties,
Hope everyone has been enjoying this gorgeous weather we've been having. It has got me loving summer make-up, in keeping with last week's post about my current look, I thought I'd do a wee review about a product which has been bronzing up my complexion beautifully.
This was my best friend last summer and crops up whenever I have a night out. It is definitely in the good books just now.

Chanel - Soleil Tan De Chanel - Bronzing Make-up Base £32.00

If you haven't tried this you kinda have to! I forgot how much I loved it until I recently started using it again.
Here are my top 3 uses for this product -
  • It is described as a 'bronzing make-up base' and it is ideal for this. I use this for nights out buffed into my skin under my foundation or BB cream to bronze my skin up - it works a treat.
  • It makes the ideal product for 'no make-up, make-up days' I buff this allover my face to give my skin a subtle glow, it honestly makes such a difference - all you need is curled lashes and you're good to go!
  • The third and probably my favourite use is for contouring - it is gorgeous, I use a flat foundation brush to apply the product then I simply blend it in with a stippling brush. It is so blendable and natural - you can't really go wrong.

The packaging for this, like everything from Chanel, is beautiful! For the price it is excellent value for money, the tub is massive - it contains 30g, I've had mine over a year and am only just hitting the bottom now. It is such a gorgeous colour - very natural. I also love the delicate scent - it smells just like Chanel Vita Lumiere foundation (another of my favourites).
This is just such a versatile product, I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a sunkissed summer glow. It will be taking pride of place in holiday make-up bag - I've definitely re-kindled my love for it.

Pretty Eyes

Since I'm having a chilled Sunday night, I figured it would be the perfect time for a little post about my current favourite products for beautiful eyes, so here we go!

I think the first step in pretty eyes for me is simple - eyelash curlers.
MAC full lash curler £16 (they were less when I bought them)

I cannot live without a good pair of eyelash curlers, and have literally used them for about a million years. They open up your eyes by lifting your lashes and make mascara look one hundred times better. I personally love them for no make-up days, they waken my eyes up a bit and with a lash tint I feel great with little or no make-up.
I use the MAC eyelash curler and I feel this has been a very trusty one - spend a little more and they're going to last longer.

The next thing on my list is something I only discovered for myself last year - eye primer
NYX HD Eyeshadow Base - £8.99

I can now understand why it is so popular and I definitely see the difference using one. The one I love is the NYX HD eyeshadow base, it is pretty fabulous to tell the truth. It is a nudey coloured cream and smoothes on in an instant, and it literally makes your eyeshadow pop. I find I need less product when applying eye colour as the colour appears truer and more vibrant. It also helps my shadows to stay on longer. It is impressive! I think £8.99 isn't bad considering a litte goes a very, very long way.

From eyeshadow base to eyeshadows - I am currently loving a cheap and cheerful number...
MUA - Undressed Eyeshadow Palette £4.00

There is so much to love about this but I'll narrow it down to 5 points :)
1) It has virtually the easiest colours to wear - anyone could pull these off - a beautiful selection of browns, golds, rosegolds, taupes and even a cheeky navy/blue shades.
2) These apply like a dream, so highly pigmented but easy to work with, they blend very well.
3) I love that these are very long wearing due to their colour brilliance.
4) Such a bargain. No-one can argue with 12 super gorgeous colours for £4 - ludicrous.
5) I love that on the back there is a little 'Masterclass' for a gorgeous smoky eye - and it looks fab and anyone could make it look pro.

Last but not least Luscious Lashes -

Mascara makes it all work - There are 3 I use on a regular basis

Le Volume de Chanel - £25.00
This is a cracker of a volumising mascara, as the name suggests. The brush is amazing, quite big but not so much that you'd have it allover your nose/cheeks/hair (we've all been there). I will say this is expensive but unlike some other high end mascaras, it does not dry up quickly. I love this for those nights I'm going out but don't fancy false eyelashes as it gives my lashes a bit of oomph:)

Next up ...
Maybelline - The Falsies £7.99
This is such an allrounder - This gives amazing volume also, the spoon brush is easy to apply and gets into all the tiny lashes in the corners. It doesn't give the dreaded spider/clumpy lashes look, and at £7.99 it is a great price for a top mascara.

Last but definitely not least ...
Chanel - Inmitable £25
This is one of my favourite everyday mascaras, this is for length and curl, the brush is more straight and slim making it a dream to apply in a morning rush. It dries very quickly and it would be impossible to get clumps. I love this, it looks great with one quick coat, but can build for a fuller lash look. It is rather expensive, though definitely worth it for it's fantastic results.

My two most loved foundations

As much as one of my favourite past-times is trying out new products, when it comes down to it we all have our fail-safe products we know will do the job whatever the weather. So I thought I'd spend my saturday morning telling you a little about my two go-to foundations which I can't be without.

I, like most of you like different products for different occasions, so I will start with my everyday foundation -

Chanel Vitalumière Aqua - 20 Beige - £33

Where to begin with this! There is so much to say about this little 30ml bottle. To kick us off I couldn't be a bigger fan of Chanel packaging - It is always so simple and classy. I like the size of this bottle it is ideal to throw into any make-up bag.
Now onto why this is my favourite every day foundation - I love the easy application of this base. The clever packaging has the tiniest nozzle, allowing you to take drops at a time, love products which stop wastage! I will say you do have to shake the bottle to bring the product to life but that's not an issue for me.
This goes on beautifully with either hands or with a big flat-top brush. For me I prefer using a brush.

It has a gorgeous texture and is really very lightweight on the skin - very much like a second skin. It is of a medium coverage and I feel it is more to the matte than dewy. It has an SPF15 making it perfect for everyday use.
I just feel this is a lovely product to shove on everyday with little effort but gives you that look of 'your skin but better'. I like the delicate fragrance, it isn't too strong. For the high price point I would honestly say it is worth the money as very little product is needed per application. For me a good foundation is an investment and this is definitely one to put your money to.

Laura Mercier - Silk Crème Rose Ivory £34

Laura Mercier's Silk Crème foundation is my ideal foundation and has been for about 2 years now. It always makes a come back in my life no matter what foundation I buy and try. It's the perfect base. To begin with it is  a good size of product at 35ml, and again with this foundation only a tiny amount needs to be used so it lasts a while! For me the packaging isn't the prettiest considering the price but I suppose it's what's inside that matters.
The consistency, once you've shaken the bottle is mousse like, and this is what I feel makes it so blendable. I buff it onto my skin using a small flat top stippling brush, this takes a little more time and effort but the results are flawless. This base is such a nice consistency doesn't dry, and isn't oily, so ideal for all skin types in my opinion.
Only a small amount gives beautiful medium, almost full coverage, so great for going out.
The scent is neutral, which is good for those who dislike strongly perfumed products.
I use this foundation for special occasions and also on those days where I need a more polished look.
For me this product is 10/10. As I said, a good foundation is an investment, and this foundation is undoubtedly a must have for any make-up bag.
